Thanks to Julia Jin and Laima Nomeikaite and everyone else who helped bring to life this year´s "Matgilde mot Hungersnød"! The event is based on taking food that is thrown away by shops and restaurants and turning it into a big feast, where people can donate money. This money then goes to organisations working in areas of crisis.

I am so impressed by this effort, and its so important to put focus on the huge inequalities we have in this world. It´s only if we make an effort that we can help even out the differences! And with a growing world population, we will need to find a way to produce more food without destroying the planet. And some say we wouldn't even need to produce that much more food, if we would just distribute what we have more evenly!!

The Council wanted to shut down all street music in the main square. Fortunately there was an uproar among the town´s citizens and musicians. And many of the newspapers  sided with the people. Here is an article I wrote for Bergens Tidende to defend the musicians´ right to play.

In the end the music wasn´t banned, but still severely restricted. No amplifiers can be used by musicians in the main square, and no playing after 10 pm at night. Of course, street musicians make most of their money after 10 pm on the weekend. So this new bye-law is very restricting to our way of life. But we´re not backing down.
